Most houses in Star are new builds

Star spent most of its life as a farm town, and much of that farmland is now subdivisions. So the typical house we clean here is a newer build with an open floor plan and tall ceilings. That layout is easy to live in and harder to keep dusted than it looks. Dust settles on the high ledges and the tops of cabinets, and fan blades up near a vaulted ceiling get skipped for months.

A brand new house keeps shedding dust for a while after the builders leave. Fine drywall dust sits in the vent covers and window tracks, and it drifts back out after the first few cleanings. Some summers bring wildfire smoke into the valley, and a gray film of it settles on glass and white trim. Winter swaps the dust for mud. Snowmelt softens gravel driveways on the bigger lots, and grit and ice melt ride in on every pair of boots. That is when entry floors take the most time on a visit.

The water here is hard, as it is across most of the valley. If nobody wipes it, a white crust forms on shower glass and faucets, and it gets tougher to remove every week it sits. A little work on each visit keeps it from building up into something that needs scraping.
